So we’ve established you’ve got impeccable taste and want to know more about my style…I’m Karl and I take wedding photos!
I take all sorts of photos, like most of us really. I can’t go a day without looking at photography in one way or another – I’m a bit obsessed really!
I’m a big fan of Street Photography and Landscapes.
But most of all Wedding Photography!!!
Getting out and shooting the streets and landscapes has helped me become a better wedding photographer for sure. Street photography has really played an important part in how I approach a wedding day. Blending in with you and your guests is super important to me and a massive part of how I shoot. I aim to be as unobtrusive a possible. This way I can capture real emotion, big belly laughs and crazy love throughout your wedding day!
Documentary, reportage & candid photography
Documentary, reportage and candid photography are buzz words to used to describe a ton of wedding photographers – it helps to make us sound cool. I’m in love with documentary photography, but I can’t claim to be purely a documentary wedding photographer. Why? Simply because I know how important formal photos can be. It’s not the most Rock n’ Roll part of the day but it doesn’t take long and before we know it, you are back to having an amazing time with your wedding squad! This is why I recommended no more than around 8 group shots. For some crazy reason organising wedding guests into formal photos can look a little like somebody trying to herd cats. You didn’t sign up for that on your wedding day!
I also dig portraits. When I hear ‘portraits’ I start to feel all funny inside – not in a good way….That’s why I call it ‘couple time’. Ok – it’s equally as cringey. However, please don’t close the computer just yet! I call it couple time because that’s it, just you two (and me). We nip off for around 20 minutes during the day and take some natural photos of you both hanging out looking all loved up (hopefully). There’s nothing bonkers about it, I won’t ask you to do any weird shit (unless that’s your bag – I won’t judge).
The wedding PARTY is a bit of a big deal for me!
Getting to see you and your bride or groom throwing some shapes while having a boogie is the icing on the wedding cake. Family and friends really show their true love for one another after a couple of glasses of champagne so having a photographer comfortable enough to get involved in the party is really important. Whether you choose me or not, make sure your photographer is comfortable getting close to the action. Robert Capa once said, “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” I really feel this quote from an inspiring photographer is apt when it comes to party shots!
The key element of my photography style is that you enjoy your wedding day with little to no interference from me. I get that you want to be having fun with your family, friends and new husband or wife and I want that for you too!
